Our Mission

Our mission is to work towards a just world where human rights are upheld globally, and to see a free Palestine in our lifetime.

Journalists for Justice exists to connect, support, and empower journalists who stand for truth, integrity, and human dignity. We believe journalism has the power to challenge injustice, amplify silenced voices, and shape public understanding — and we are committed to ensuring those who report courageously on Palestine and human rights have the backing of a global community.

Our Vision

A global network of journalists united by the shared pursuit of justice — where press freedom is protected, truth is amplified, and narratives of resistance and humanity are told with integrity and depth.

Our Core Values

Truth and Integrity
We believe in fact-based, ethical journalism that seeks accuracy, fairness, and accountability.
Solidarity
We are stronger together. Our network is built on collective care, shared purpose, and mutual support.
Courage
We stand with journalists who continue to report in the face of risk, censorship, or isolation.
Human Rights
We uphold universal human rights as the foundation of justice and freedom.
Freedom of the Press
We defend the right of journalists everywhere to report freely, without fear or interference.

Our Founding Story

Journalists for Justice was founded by Dr Arafat M. Shoukri, who recognised the urgent need to create a professional and supportive space for journalists reporting on Palestine and human rights issues worldwide.

Dr Arafat Shoukri is a senior researcher at Al Jazeera Centre for Studies (AJCS). He received his MA and PhD in Oriental Studies from the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), University of London, in 2008. As an expert in migration in the Middle East, he has published two books on the subject and continues to contribute extensively to research and analysis on displacement, identity, and justice in the region.

Through his research and international work, Dr Shoukri observed how journalists covering Palestine often face isolation, censorship, and lack of institutional support — despite their courage and commitment to truth. He founded Journalists for Justice to bridge that gap, creating a network where journalists can collaborate, share resources, and strengthen one another’s work.

This initiative reflects his belief that coordinated, ethical, and collective journalism can be a powerful force for justice and human rights. By connecting journalists from across the world who already speak up for Palestine, Journalists for Justice aims to build a unified, credible, and impactful community capable of shaping public discourse and strengthening global solidarity.

Our Principles

Journalists for Justice is grounded in four guiding principles:

Press Freedom
We uphold journalism as a public good and defend the right to report freely and independently.
Integrity
We maintain the highest standards of accuracy, accountability, and ethical conduct in all our work.
Solidarity
We foster collaboration and mutual support among journalists across borders and backgrounds.
Human Rights
We place the dignity and safety of people — especially those affected by injustice and conflict — at the heart of our mission.
